I am staying up way too late again, yay!
I worked today, although in a bit of a haphazard and not very involved fashion. Everything’s at a standstill in a lot of ways, and unless something huge breaks all I really have to do is go through DNS records and doublecheck them against our asset database. Not very exciting work, although necessary.
Lea got in around 5:00pm I think. They had a snack and then we ran out to have dinner with my friend T, and see a movie. First, though, due to on-the-road changes in plans, we got to spend 45 minutes in Border’s, where I bought Christmas presents for my niece and nephew. We also got a lovely copy of The Velveteen Rabbit for Lea& because they don’t have one (*gasp*), a situation which is firmly in the realm of the Not Acceptable.
Then we met up with T at Applebee’s and had dinner, and then went to see Beowulf in Digital 3D. I hadn’t quite processed the fact that there was a 3D there on the end of the Digital part. We got snifty 3D glasses when we bought our tickets and got to wear them for the film (plus a couple of previews that were made 3D). The trailer for Coraline played and I am so all over that when it comes out next year.
Beowulf was good. I have no idea how much they jacked up the story because it has been decades since I last read Beowulf, but I want to think they didn’t jack it up too badly since Neil Gaiman was one of the screenwriters and I *heart* Neil Gaiman. The effects were excellent, the computer work extraordinary, and John Malkovich was delightfully tricksy. I have no idea who played Beowulf, but everyone was good, and Angelina Jolie looked quite tastee as a naked water demon with sentient hair. It was a good flick. Not a buy-it-to-watch-again flick, but definitely a worth-$2.50-extra-for-digital-3D flick.
We ran to the grocery store after the movie to get ice cream (always a necessary item when Sidra visits, :D) and the sodas for Thanksgiving Day. I’ve been tasked with sodas and creamy bacon dip as my contributions.
We hung out for a bit with kitties after we got home, and then I got their bed together and they went to sleep. We came into the bedroom to catch up with online games and type this entry and just generally wind down. The winding down part isn’t going so hot, though. I had too much Diet Pepsi at dinner. Also, although we’re technically working tomorrow things are slow slow and since it’s the day before Thanksgiving they’ll let us go around noon or so, so it’s not like it’s going to be a full day, and so everyone is like “Par-Tay!”
I took the nighttime meds and I guess it’s time for bed, or at least time for lying in bed with my huge and somewhat annoying book.
I hope everyone is doing well!
