Busy busy

We’ve been really busy, but a lot has gotten done. We got our computer desk and printer stand and bookcase yesterday, and put them together today, and moved all our work stuff over to that corner. There are still quite a few random items on the kitchen table, but tomorrow I’ll get those stowed away and then I’ll have a place to eat again, yay!

I need to steam clean the carpet because my sister and her kids are spending the night Saturday night for a sleepover. I feel all achy right now from putting together furniture and moving it around. The living room is back at a cluttered look but it’ll be all fixed up by Friday. I feel like I should do more but honestly I did a bunch today and really that’s enough. Tomorrow I can clean the carpets and rearrange books and clean the kitchen table and such. I like our new work area. It’s smaller, but it’s also neater.

It felt good

We had a really good time at the Games Night. It was a bunch of utterly geeky people and in between playing Werewolf and Jenga and other games there was quite a bit of geek talk and geek humor. I felt really comfortable there and T commented on how well I related to everyone. It made me feel better about how things have been going. This year has been really tough so far but this past week or so has made me hopeful that it’s starting to ease up now. I’ve been doing lots of stuff around the house and going out and just generally being more active and more myself. Such a relief!

Now it’s really late but I’m still wired and don’t want to go to bed yet. I guess I’ll grab a snack and maybe play a game or read. I need to update my Books & Movies link; it’s been a while since I did that.

Today we get to see L/L and wash clothes and continue gathering stuff for Goodwill and petting kitties. Sunday is seeing the condo at 10am and running some dungeons in WoW in the afternoon and seeing L/L in the evening. And then it’ll be Monday and back to the work routine.

Next Friday night I’m working from 10pm ’til the buttcrack of dawn. Next Saturday my sister and her kids are spending the night with me for a family sleepover which will include much DDR and Monopoly. The week after that we’re taking off work to go to Pennsylvania to hang out with Birch and Chorus and family - yay! :)

Eek

Someone just put makeup on us - eye shadow and eye liner and this lipglossy/lipsticky stuff that’s not too noticeable. Blargh. All we’re going to do is go hang out with geeks and play boardgames! I loathe makeup so hard. But I guess there’s nothing wrong with trying to look ok. I’d really rather not be a girl. I didn’t even know we had all that crap stashed in our bathroom. At least it’s all neutral tones.

More condo talk

I am totally going to go see that condo this Sunday at 10am. I’ll see if T can get away to come with me, because I’d really rather not go alone although I will if I have to. I have no idea whether this will fly or not. I have about 10k to put down, a good employment history, a good income, and credit that’s in the iffy middle area, not quite good and not quite bad (although moving its way steadily towards good). It might happen, but it might not. I’m not getting my hopes up, but I’m also not going to let it slide by without at least asking. It’s a foreclosure; they might be thrilled to get someone who can make the payments. It’s 993 square feet, which is over 200 square feet bigger than where I’m living now. Argh. I know I waffle horribly on the whole condo issue but it’s so fucking scary. I just need to buck up and go out there and look at it and then talk to a mortgage person and just be honest and forthright about stuff. For 189k, even if carpet needs to be replaced or it needs paint, it’s still a deal. With a condo I don’t have to worry about anything within the walls, I don’t think.

DO WANT.

Desk

I figured out that I didn’t actually have to get a 60″ desk; instead I could get a combination of things that equal 60″. So, I found a desk on Amazon that I liked, and bought the matching printer table and four-shelf bookcase as well. Later on, if I actually ever get a second bedroom, I can buy the matching file cabinet and have a real little office going. They’ll all be delivered on Monday, so I can spend my evening putting them together and admiring my handiwork. :D

This is my first journal post from my tiny Asus Eee Surf laptop. It took me a while to get used to the itty-bitty keyboard, but if I just type a little slower and pay attention to what I’m doing, it works fine. I’m very pleased with it. It is made of teh coot.

I’ve been feeling really pleased with how my apartment changes have been going, but buying a condo is now back in my future plans because prices have dropped so precipitously. There’s a 2bedroom/1bath place right by where I live now that’s going for 186,900K. That’s an unheard of price. I’m definitely going to keep checking things out.
