Progressing

Today was a pretty good day overall. I made it to the Post Office, and to Goodwill, and I got the laptop mailed off to hyjinx, and worked, and then went over to my sister’s house to have Chipotle for dinner and watch Superbad. It was a pretty funny movie.

The living room is looking much better, although there’s a gap where the desk will go once I get it. Hopefully that will happen soon. I have yet more stuff to go to Goodwill, but not quite yet. It’s clothes and I still have more to weed through. I am downsizing!

It’s late for us and we’re feeling a bit headachy. If we don’t sleep well tonight then I might take off work tomorrow. Of course I’d said I’d take work off today and didn’t, so who knows. It really all depends on how we feel in the morning.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Giving things away

I gave away my Dreamcast and my GameCube, and all the associated cables, controllers, and games. I also gave away the VCR! I moved the TV stand over to the left a bit like I had planned, and cleaned it up, and rearranged things since there was so much more room, and now I have space for a computer desk! Yay! I think I’m just going to get a computer table kind of thing, because I don’t have enough space on the other wall to do an ‘L’ desk or corner desk like I’d like. However, I do have room for a 60″ computer table and so that’s what I’ll do. It’ll have plenty of room for my work stuff, and then I’ll have my kitchen table back! I found one I like at Ikea, but to have it shipped costs twice as much as the computer table itself, so I’ll have to get my sister to go with me out there to buy one and bring it back to the apartment. Hopefully she’ll have time to do that with me this weekend, because I really want to get my living room finished up. It’s such a mess right now what with moving stuff around.

I’ve decided I’m going to be vicious with clothes and books and get rid of many many things. I just need to get the work area issue settled first so I can start tearing apart other things. :)

Work was hella busy today. I might take tomorrow off so I can do more house stuff, and make a trip to the Goodwill. Dunno yet though. I have to think about it a little more. Work’s been kind of depressing ever since the team lead got terminated last week. I also got made project lead for a screwed up annoying project staffed by liars and prima donnas, whee. I guess my manager thinks I can whip them into shape or something. Urgh.

I want a platform bed! But that has to wait until I’m completely done with the living room. It doesn’t make sense to tear up two areas at once.

Tomorrow is work (maybe), and then going over to my sister’s house to have dinner and watch a movie. Friday is work and then going to Games Night with my friend T. Games Night is this group of people on meetup.com who do, well, game nights, for all sorts of games. She’s been before and says it’s fun, so we’re going to go Friday night. I’m looking forward to it. I think having a social life is good, although stressful for us introverts.

I took the plunge and bought a copy of Dance Dance Revolution that came with the mat. It’s not like I get any exercise at all right now, sitting at a computer all day the way I do, and I know for a fact that DDR is fun. I think if I approach it as a video game and not exercise, it’ll be fine. I’m actually looking forward to breaking it out but I’m making myself wait until I get the living room in shape. I don’t need more mess right now!

I think that’s all for now. Oh wait. I’ve been invited by Delane& to a conference in Connecticut in August, and I think I’m going to go because it sounds interesting and also I really want to meet Delane&. :)

Busy busy busy.

Clearing stuff out

Work was really busy today, which was both good and bad. It’s good to be busy, but annoying when I’ve got other things on my mind that I want to take care of!

The person from Freecycle came by and picked up the old DVD and CD shelves, so that cleared up some area in the living room. Tomorrow I need to bring out a bunch of empty boxes that are taking up space, as well as a bunch of bags of Goodwill stuff. Then I can start working on moving the TV stand over to make room for a computer desk. I’ve decided that I’ll Freecycle/Goodwill my VCR since it never gets used, and my Dreamcast and all its games as well. I’ll keep my PS2 and my GameCube, although honestly the GameCube never gets used and I only have one or two games for it. Maybe I should give it away, too, and just keep the PS2. It would certainly free up a lot of room! I’ll have to consider it. Once I get the TV stand all cleaned up and moved then I can start shopping for computer desks to fit in that corner, and when that’s done then I can FINALLY start setting up a real work area. I’ve been working at my kitchen table for the past nearly two years, and I am very very tired of it.

This evening I brought a bunch of stuff to be mailed to the Post Office, and bought more stamps and mailing envelopes. I just finished packaging up the rest of the CDs and DVDs that got requested from me on Swapacd.com and Swapadvd.com. I’m mailing out something like 12 CDs and 5 DVDs tomorrow! It’s good to get rid of stuff. I know in my heart that I need to be just a ruthless with my books, but I don’t want to. Bah. I’ll have to think on it some more.

Coming together slowly

I posted all the CDs I had weeded out to Swapacd.com, and I’ve already got 9 requests plus 11 more that are on someone’s wish list. Bonanza! I need to do the DVDs now. I expect them to be equally successful.

I’ve posted to Freecycle about the CD and DVD shelves I have left over now, plus some Playstation2 games that I want to get rid of. I have a lot of stuff to post to Freecycle, but I don’t like to do more than 2 or 3 at a time because I get confused about who’s coming when to get what. I see these people who post 7 or 8 items in a row and I wonder how they keep track. Maybe my brain is just slow.

Anyway, I’m feeling good about getting rid of stuff and making room. Once the old shelves are out of the way then I can move over the TV and clear out that corner for a computer desk. It’s coming along.
