You are an Inventor:
Your imagination, self-reliance, openness to new things, and appreciation for utility combine to make you an INVENTOR.
You have the confidence to make your visions into reality, and you are willing to consider many alternatives to get that done.
The full spectrum of possibilities in the world intrigues you—you’re not limited by pre-conceived notions of how things should be.
Problem-solving is a specialty of yours, owing to your persistence, curiosity, and understanding of how things work.
Your vision allows you to identify what’s missing from a given situation, and your creativity allows you to fill in the gaps.
Your awareness of how things function gives you the ability to come up with new uses for common objects.
It is more interesting for you to pursue excitement than it is to get caught up in a routine.
Although understanding details is not difficult for you, you specialize in seeing the bigger picture and don’t get caught up in specifics.
You tend to more proactive than reactive—you don’t just wait for things to come to you.
You’re not one to force your positions on a group, and you tend to be fair in evaluating different options.
You’re well-attuned to your emotional state, and not afraid to use your feelings to guide you. You tend to be cooperative, rarely contradicting others, and always considerate of their feelings.
Never one to be found in chic boutiques or trendy clothing stores, you take an extremely practical approach to getting dressed.

You are Reserved:
You are RESERVED – you aren’t someone who always needs to have others around, and you find you can handle most situations on your own.
You can be very happy spending time alone, and enjoy your own thoughts and ideas.
You find it difficult to understand why some people get so emotional and tell everyone else their problems.
You believe that if you want to get something done, it is best to do it yourself.
In your experience, other people are not always completely dependable, so you generally rely on yourself and only a few close others.
Despite your independence, you are not a closed-minded person who makes hasty judgments about others. You know that it isn’t always easy to walk in other people’s shoes.
At times other people’s feelings are puzzling to you, and you wish that people were more rational.
Your vision of the world is complex – your values are not set in stone. Instead, you are able to change your beliefs as you learn new information.

Someone found this journal by searching on “hear them howling, my hungry children.”

How very odd.

ETA: Oh oh oh! It’s a line from Skullcrusher Mountain, that I posted the lyrics to in here along with a Youtube video. It is no longer odd!

Patella pondering

Monday, April 28th, 2008

I saw the doctor this afternoon about my knee. He told me that I had patellar tendinitis and pre-patellar bursitis. The tendinitis is the tendons over the kneecap being inflamed and sore. For the bursitis, it turns out that there is a little sac over the kneecap to protect it, and mine is swollen and sore and full of blood. When I talked about my knee being squishy I was right! It was squishy with BLOOD! Ew!

Anyway, pretty much the only treatment is to take Aleve and let it heal on its own. He said it seemed to be healing up already and that I should just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t actually get infected, but he didn’t think it would. Then he went onto Google and pulled up pictures of inflamed knees for me to look at and it was a lot of fun. My doctor is very very cool.

I also got scripts for Vicodin and Xanax so I can quit the caffeine cold turkey yet again. I quit and stay clean for two or three years and then I get back on it and have to quit again. This is to help with the three days of puking migraines that will ensue when I cut off the supply of Diet Pepsi. After I quit this time I should be good until 2010 or so. :D

Sleep and knees

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

We slept something like thirteen hours last night. I think we really needed it.

I’ve been feeling lately like there’s too much to do and always something scheduled and I’m finding it frustrating. I’m not sure that my perception is correct, but it’s how it feels. Today we see T for lunch and a movie (or lunch and shopping - still not decided on that). This evening we’re supposed to go to my father-in-law-once-removed-A’s house for dinner. I really don’t want to but I only see them two or three times a year and they’ve been very nice to us, so I should go. If we’re lucky we can get home by 9pm and still have time to see L/L.

My knee is still fucked up. Last week I spent time icing it three times a day for twenty minutes at a time, and that helped with some of the swelling and pain but not all. The tendons are still creaky and bumpy, and I seem to have fluid on top of my kneecap which just squicks me out to no end when I touch it. I went ahead and made an appointment with my family doctor for tomorrow afternoon so he could take a look. He’s usually very thorough, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up getting an MRI on it. I can walk just fine and move the knee just fine, but I think I fucked up my kneecap somehow. I’m not sure there’s much they can do about that, though. We’ll see.

We updated our Books & Movies link on the right there. It had been a long time and we had a ton of stuff to add.

That’s all for now!
