Whoosh goes the money in my checking account

Having the carpets steamcleaned and Scotchguarded - $220.00

Having all four doors (front door, back door, utility room door and storage closet door) all re-keyed to the same key, and the back door switched from a double deadbolt to a single - $360.00

Ordering the new bedframe and having it delivered and assembled by the store - $399.00

Total spent in an eight hour period - $979.00

Ouch.

New bed

I just ordered the platform bed that we want for our bedroom. It’s the last one in the picture, the cherry one.

Later on I’ll see about getting a matching dresser, and maybe night tables too. But for now we definitely need a bed.

Horoscope

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): In her journals, Sylvia Plath said there are two different ways to be free of desires. The first is when you are “dead and rotten inside and there is nothing in the world.” The second is when you are “so full and rich and have so many inner worlds that the outer world is not necessary for joy, because joy emanates from the inner core of your being.” In the past, Pisces, you have had a few encounters with the dead and rotten state. But I believe you are now in a phase when the full and rich condition will prevail. During this grace period, you will not really need anything beyond what you already have. My advice? Start the celebration!

Appointments and plans

Today I’m meeting the carpet cleaners at 9am so they can steamclean and Scotchguard the carpets in the two bedrooms. Sometime between 12 and 4 the locksmith will be coming, too, to re-key the locks and make the back door a single deadbolt instead of a double.

I’m gathering together some cleaning stuff so that I can clean out the inside of the cabinets in the kitchen. My cleaning people will do everything else, and maybe they’ll even wipe down the cabinet, but I’m anal and want it make sure it’s really really clean before I lay down shelf paper and put my dishes in there. I might do the same in the bathrooms.

Today is also buying more boxes, picking up some stuff at Target, and continuing to pack. I think I can also start bringing over small things as I’m making trips to the condo. I think this morning I’ll carry over my bamboo plant because it’s small and fragile and can’t be packed. Later on I’ll bring the paintings I’ve bought from the Army over the years (2 big, 2 small).

This is really happening.
