Bye bye apartment

Today feels like it was less productive than yesterday, but maybe that’s not true. I did get back to the apartment in order to pick up the cold food and gather the trash and the last few items that were remaining. I made an attempt to steam clean the carpet in the closet, but it was a lost cause. It was such a horrid mess that I gave up entirely. I loaded the car with everything I was taking, went to the leasing office, and turned in my keys nearly two weeks before I meant to. There’s a $200 security deposit on the apartment and I fully expect to lose it. So it goes.

On a brighter note, the kitties are using the handicapped litter box perfectly. There’s been not a single accident in four days and I think that’s a really good sign. I wish I’d known about the handicapped litter boxes three years ago. *sigh*

I got caught up on my swapping sites today, as well. I ran to the Post Office after work and mailed out TWENTY-SEVEN books, and one DVD. I’m washing some clothes now; it’s my first time to use the washer/dryer and I like how quiet it is. I also did a load of dishes, with more to come tomorrow. I decided that tomorrow I’ll concentrate on finishing up the kitchen, and unpacking the rest of my clothes. Then I can go back to books and unpack my reference stuff, since I didn’t get to that yesterday.

I think in a week or so I’ll have the condo mostly in shape. I’m adoring the storage space. It’s so wonderful to have enough room for everything and to not have it stacked haphazardly in corners. Lea and Delane, I can’t wait for y’all to come visit so I can show it off. :)

I ordered a computer work table from Amazon this evening. It’s blue! It’ll be plenty big enough for my three laptops and the printer. My sister is giving me her husband’s office chair which is huge and nice because he hates it. I’ll be working in style.

I have to pack and mail another 12 books tomorrow. I listed a ton of stuff when I weeded through my books while unpacking and it’s going like hotcakes. I’m going to have something like 130 credits on paperbackswap.com. I need to get my sister to use some of them.

Our routine is coming back slowly. We’re sleeping really really well here. This will be our first place ever where we haven’t been suicidal. I hope it stays that way.

My mother is sending me two antique vases that belonged to my great-great-grandmother. They’re something like 129 years old. Just watch the cats break them. I’ll have to make sure they can’t get to the mantel of the fireplace. She’s also sending me an antique gold mirror that belonged to the evil grandmother. I successfully avoided the bedroom furniture only to get saddled with the mirror. Oh well, it’s survivable, I think.

My sister and I are going to share the cost of a storage unit and start putting things in there. For instance I have some night tables that I won’t be using and instead of Freecycling them we’ll store them. That’s because in just five years she’ll have a kid in college and she’ll need to be outfitting college apartments and such.

So that’s the Tuesday report. I hope everyone is doing well. :)

So true
