My sister came over around 10:30am and we unpacked the antique mirror and the antique marble table that my parents sent me in the mail. The marble had chipped a little on two sides, but the corner I’m putting the table in covers the chips so I’m just not going to mention it to my mother. She’ll freak out if she sees it got damaged even a little. Unfortunately I can’t hide the chipped glass in one of the doors of the antique bookcase, so I’m going to hear about that.
We cleaned up the HUGE mess that all the packing materials made on my floor - bubblewrap and styrofoam peanuts for days, man. In the end the box that the table came in was too huge for my development’s dumpster so we made a trip out to the county dump. That was an experience. It was only $5 for a county resident to dump trash, but I got lost on the way to the trash part of the dump and then got lost on the way back out after dumping the big box. It was sort of surreal to be among all these big hills covered in tarp and gravel and knowing there was garbage underneath. Americans are hugely disgustingly wasteful.
After the dump we had salads at a place called California Tortilla and then ice cream at the Cold Stone Creamery. Yum.
My sister brought me her husband’s office chair which is much nicer than mine and in much better condition. He hates it and doesn’t want it anymore and my old office chair is coming apart at the seams. I sent her home with two of the sets of drawers I had bought at Target back in 2004. She’s going to use them to replace her ugly old file cabinet.
So, yeah, it was a very productive day and the condo is really coming together nicely. If only my damned work table would show up so I could set up my office correctly in the spare room! I have tons of boxes in here and until they’re sorted and emptied I won’t be able to buy a double bed for guests. It’s coming along though.
Ooh, thunderstorm coming through. Wheeeee!
I’m picking T up in an hour and we’re going to see The Zohan, that new Adam Sandler movie. I’m sure it will be incredibly stupid but Adam Sandler usually makes me laugh and I need some amusement. Later on will be dates, and then going to bed and sleeping late on Sunday, yay!
We’re going to go watch the thunderstorm now. I hope everyone is doing well!

we’re having our very first thunder storm of the year right now. well, storm isn’t quite the word, but thunder rainy day doesn’t have quite the impact.
couldn’t you have recycled the box? we donate packing material to a few of the independent stores about town. that way those horrid packing peanuts find a new home and use instead of ending up in the dump. i consider bubble pack a hobby material, bran considers it a headache.
