Orson Scott Card has lost my vote

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Too bad he’s not running for anything.

Read his crazed rantings about how gay marriage will destroy democracy here.

He is such a good writer, and such a fucking nutcase.

About this quiz

Unhappiness in relationships is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. It can be helpful to know what language you speak and what language those around you speak.

Tag 3 people so they can find out what their love language is.

Hanging with Lea

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Let’s see. We’ve seen The Dark Knight (Christian Bale is luscious, and apparently has a cult following; who knew?), and also Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, in which Prince Nuada was the luscious one. OMG, the gay boys in here are in the throes of unrequited passion.

What else have we done? We ate at the Spicy Pickle, which is a good sandwich place, and then I cooked tortellini with pasta sauce one night. I actually cooked breakfast today, too - scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon and bagels with cream cheese. Last night we had pizza from a place called Spice Town; chicken tandoori pizza which was very nummy. Today has been all leftovers, of which there are a great number.

We watched Sweeney Todd at home yesterday since Lea et al hadn’t seen it yet. It made Li pine for Lynn.

We made the kids a cake, as usual. Tomorrow we’ll make breakfast, and go have pedicures, and then get ice cream from the Hershey shop that’s next door, and take a nap, and then bring Lea to the airport for 3pm. Yes, we’ve had naps every day so far. It’s wonderful. :D

Tentative plans have been made to visit Boston the weekend of September 19th, assuming that Birch Household will be available for us to drive down to Connecticut and visit. Also assuming that ticket prices stay around the $200 range.

The kitties have been all over Lea. They adore her.

The grocery store had no Diet Pepsi in the 24oz bottles and I was mad. We had to get Diet Dr. Pepper instead. My life is so hard.

Oh and we went to the dump! But that was fairly uneventful. After the dump we stopped by the model homes for this incredibly expensive area called Red Cedars at the Hamlets or the Hamlets at the Red Cedars, or something like that. We walked through two model homes and were suitably impressed. Four to five bedrooms, massive kitchens, bathtubs to DIE for, libraries and studies and sitting rooms and multiple living rooms and dining rooms and Jesus, it was a little overwhelming. Beautiful, but far far away from any place that I would actually want to live. My little condo is much cosier!

That’s all for now. I hope everyone is doing well.

Update

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Let’s see. What’s going on?

Lea gets here tomorrow morning and will be here through Monday afternoon. I did the grocery shopping at lunch and so I have ice cream for Sidra, and two kinds of cake mix for the kids, and coffee and whole milk and bagels for the adults. :) I’m really looking forward to showing of our home and getting Lea’s help in hanging pictures! I also have to bring the old office chair to the dump on Saturday and I’m making Lea come with!

The Dark Knight comes out tomorrow, apparently, so I’m going to see about buying tickets online today so we can go see it. I’ve heard such good things about the movie and I love Batman so much. I’m really excited!

Our Wii Fit came and it’s a lot of fun to play. It said I was old and fat, but of course that’s true so I can’t complain. :D It is a lot of fun, though, and I’m looking forward to making Lea play the hula hoop game. Heh.

Work is fine. The Jeep is fine. The kitties are good. The condo is wonderful. Things are pretty ok overall. I’m feeling settled. It’s nice.

I hope everyone is doing well!
