Hmm. Not very happy sounding is it? I should write more about kitties and WoW and sendsomething and FoHA and Freecycle, I guess. Except I’m so busy doing all those things that this journal isn’t getting updated much lately!

The end is in sight
The living room looks wonderful now. The futon got delivered for the spare room and it’s looking good, too, although it’s filled with all the odds and ends of the last bit of unpacking. There’s five office stuff boxes left to go through, and all of our pictures and paintings that need to be hung or stored or donated. I think in a couple of weeks I’ll be all done, just in time for Lea to visit!
By the way, Lea, you and I are going to take a little trip to the Loudoun County dump together. Don’t say I never take you places.
I stayed up way too late last night playing WoW, and consequently only got about five hours of sleep because I had to be up at 8 to wait for the futon to be delivered, and some groceries as well. They finally all came and I went back to bed around 2pm and slept for five hours straight. We were exhausted. It’ll make it a little difficult to sleep tonight but we’ll manage it. I need to get back on the regular schedule. Damned holidays always throw me off.
Tomorrow is visiting my sister’s house to water her plants for her, and seeing T for a movie and lunch and a pedicure, and dates, and somewhere in there I have a lot of chores to do that didn’t get done today because I napped instead.
Ooh, the kitties love the new futon! It’s all fluffy and soft and they approve highly of the purchase. This spare room is definitely full, but once all the bits and pieces are put away it’s going to look really nice without being too too crowded or overwhelming. I think my house is cosy. Yay!
Diversity training
I’m having to take several hours of diversity training at my job. One section contains an entire book that breaks down different countries, each in its own chapter. So far it’s been an exercise in stereotypes, and thus sort of gross, but this paragraph about Canadian manners and taboos did have me in stitches:
Canada is a very open society, exercising maximum social tolerance. There are consequently few taboos apart from boasting and other forms of ostentation. Canadians possess easy social graces—they are the world’s best cocktail partiers! They invite people readily for supper in their homes, where old-fashioned hospitality shows no bounds. Clothing on most occasions is comfortable and tasteful rather than snazzy.
So there you go. Canadians are the must-have group for cocktail parties.
Nine boxes
I spent today working and unpacking. I’m down to nine boxes total, so the end is in sight. Of course, the last box I unpacked was all pictures and I didn’t feel up to hanging them all right then (I’m not sure I even want to hang them all), so they are currently living on the dining table until I can figure out what to do with them. I think most of them will be taken out of their frames and put into a photo album of some sort. For now there are only, um, 8 that I want to put up for sure, and it can wait ’til tomorrow.
I’m still feeling a tad overwhelmed at the sheer amount of office stuff we have. It’s crazed. I gave away two things via Freecycle today, and I’ve got three large bags filled up for Goodwill. I am ready to be done with the unpacking. At least I’ve got floor space cleared out in the spare room now, so when the futon comes on Saturday it’ll have a spot. I’m so glad that we have a holiday on Friday. I am going to sleep late!
Lea, I might make you help me hang stuff up. ![]()
