Good day

Today was pretty good. I took another day off from work and puttered around for most part, chatting with L/L and then heading out around 1:15pm to buy my nephew’s birthday present and pick him up from his school to bring him home. I stayed over at my sister’s to have dinner and watch a movie, and got home around 11.

Tomorrow is sleeping in, and having the bedroom furniture delivered between 2 and 4 (supposedly), and maybe trying to put the gliders onto the bottoms of some of the living room furniture so that I can start unpacking things like knickknacks and CDs and DVDs. I also have to take out a ton of trash (unpacking produces lots of trash!), and make a Goodwill run, and wash some clothes. If the bedroom furniture really does arrive then I can finish unpacking my clothes and such as well. Tomorrow will be busy, hopefully, but a good busy.

The kitties seem to be much happier in the new place. The three of them have never liked each other very much (they’re all a year apart in age), and in the apartment they would fight a lot and stress me out because I’d worry. Here it seems to be better, though, maybe because there’s more room, and maybe because the litter box situation is so much better. Anyway, it’s good to see the three of them lying close to each other on the floor in a sunbeam instead of being pissy at each other. The windows in the living room are already full of nose marks. They like being able to hop onto the low sills and look out. Happy kitties are a goodness. :)

All done, sort of

Unsecured WiFi is a beautiful thing. :D

It took about 7 hours for everything to be moved. It was a very long process, and I’m extremely grateful that T and my sister were here to help out.

T is an incredible person for getting things done. She lined all my drawers and cabinets in the kitchen with shelf liner. Then she drove to Loew’s for me and bought the brackets and shelves that I needed for the wall in the spare bedroom. Then she unpacked my entire kitchen and put it all in place, from silverware to the crockpot to all my canned goods. And THEN she hung my shower curtain. I am indescribably grateful that she did all of that for me. I owe her a very nice dinner somewhere!

I had put the kitties into their carriers pretty early on in the morning, but then I realized that the move was going to take far longer than I had thought, so I went ahead and brought them to the new place and locked them up in the master bedroom where the kitty box was already set up. When we got there a couple-three hours later with the movers, I found all three kitties crouching in the cabinet under the bathroom sink. Poor scared traumatized kitties! Once the moving was done I opened the door for them but it took them a long time to come out and start exploring, and there was much vocalization about how they didn’t approve of the day’s events so far. They seem to be calming down now, and each kitty got to have some quality mommy time, and dinner, and a treat.

After T left I took a shower and got into clean jammies, and came into my brand-new spare bedroom to mess around with computers. Imagine my joy when I discovered a beautifully high-speed unsecured wireless connection in the vicinity. Tres convenient.

Tomorrow is seeing the new Sex and the City movie with T, and playing some WoW, and unpacking. I have a functional bathroom and bedroom and kitchen, and the office will be functional as soon as I get my broadband turned on, and the rest I can deal with bit by bit.

Oh, I almost forgot to say that while T and I were resting on the couch before she left, someone knocked on the door. It was a real estate agent with a client and they wanted to know if the condo was for sale!!! I told them NO!!!

Here we go

It’s 5:38am and I’ve been up since 5. The bathroom is done. I need to start the kitchen and find boxes for some odds and ends and then it’ll be time to actually move. Thank God I hired movers, and thank God both my sister and T will be here. That’s going to take a lot of stress off. This afternoon will be getting kitties settled, and finding the boxes that have the essentials for basic living, and then beginning to unpack.

It’s going to be a little sad to leave this apartment. We had some bad times here, but we had far more good times, and it’s been a good safe place for us through all of it.

Later on I’ll try to post pictures of the dresser and nightstands I bought to match my bedframe. It’ll have to wait, though. I gots to pack!

I hope everyone is doing well. :)

Quite a bit left to do

Well the kitchen still isn’t done but, frankly, I’m exhausted. Both my sister and my friend T will be coming over in the morning to help out with the movers. I think I’ll head off to bed pretty soon and get up at the buttcrack of dawn to see how far I can get with finishing the packing. And if I don’t get entirely done, T and my sister can help. It’s just that last bit. This week has been non-stop and I’m tired and stressed and ready to just collapse. At least tomorrow night we’ll be in the new place and can start UNpacking.

I figured out some money stuff and then went ahead and ordered the matching dresser and night tables for my bedroom. It’ll all be delivered next Thursday evening and they’ll put it together for me and then we’ll have a nice bedroom to sleep in. The kitties will like that. :) I’ll like having a functional dresser again.

Okies, my night meds are kicking in. It’s bedtime. I’ll set the alarm for 5am and see if I can finish everything up before the movers get here. They’re scheduled for between 7:30 and 9:30, so who knows when they’ll actually show up.

*sigh*

It looks like I’m going to run out of boxes AGAIN. This will be my fourth trip to the box store. Jeezam.

I still haven’t started the kitchen. Or the bathroom.

Out. of. control.
