New theme

Halloween is over and it’s time for an autumn theme. I would’ve done something Thanksgiving-y, but I couldn’t find anything that we liked. This theme is called Autumn and while I’m not sure just how autumn-y it is, I surely do like the header graphic.

If you notice any issues, let me know.

Lea, bunny update, please!

Money and stuff

Yay, I paid off and closed my credit card with the highest interest rate. It was at 19.9% while my other two cards are at 7.99% and 12.9%. I think those are both decent rates, although I’m not entirely sure. Lea, do you have an opinion about credit card rates?

The “account manager” I spoke to offered to lower my interest rate to 14.9% with a review scheduled in six months but I told him no thank you and he got mad and practically hung up on me. It went from “We can do this and this and THIS for you!” to “Fine kthxbai.” He was obviously not happy, but oh well. Tough titty said the kitty cuz he couldn’t get no milk.

So, anyway, that got rid of $1500 in credit card debt. I have about 2k left to go, plus whatever is left for paying off my laptop (I have to look and see where I am with that). I’m thinking I’ll have it all paid down by next summer, which I think is pretty good. At least I have a plan!

A few weeks ago I ended up pulling my credit card report to check on something, and was astounded to see that my score has gone up to 724, which is solidly in the good range. When I bought the condo in May I was in the upper 680s or so, which was merely ok and just barely decent enough to get me my FHA loan. It seems that just four months of making mortgage payments has upped it tremendously, which pleases me. I don’t have any big purchases planned right now, but the Jeep is nearly ten years old and the furnace is about 18 years old, so I’ll definitely have some things coming up in the next few years at some point. Hopefully later rather than sooner.

What else? We have a lingering cold that just won’t go away. I hate sneezing three and four and six times in a row. It’s very distracting. I took some Dayquil this morning but it’s not doing much for me. I worked last night for a few hours, so I might leave work early today and take some Nyquil and have a nap.

Good news is that our heater is working now. It just needed the pilot light to be lit. We have it set on 62 and that seems to work ok overall. I like it chilly but the kitties complain so I have to compromise. :)

OMG

I’m older than Sesame Street! Who knew?!

La la la

Margo spent the night Friday night and it was fun. We went to a Mediterranean restaurant for dinner and talked until late and then she left early Saturday morning for her appointments. Saturday was dates and puttering around and cleaning up the house, and then Saturday night my sister spent the night. We watched a couple of movies and I made her laugh so hard that she wet her pants. :D I cooked for her last night (Hamburger Helper and brownies out of a box, things she never gets at home), and then this morning I made scrambled eggs and bacon before she left.

Today I’m going over to T’s house at noon to fix her computer, and then we’re going to have lunch somewhere, and go see Saw V. I love stupid horror movies. :) Tonight is dates and getting ready for the week ahead.

Tomorrow construction guys are coming by to finish up a little work on the balcony. I’m not sure what needs to be done. I think it’s something cosmetic.

Oh, I had the handyman come by twice last week, the first time to light the pilot light on my furnace (which is not an easy process, let me tell you), and then to fix the towel rack that had come out of the wall in the spare bathroom. It’s in there solidly now, so that’s good.

My sister and I are going to go look at blinds sometime in the next two or three months, as soon as we can get time to do it. That’ll be the next big purchase for condo - new miniblinds. I have seven windows and one door to get covered, and I want to have some place come and measure and cut and do the install for me. Hopefully it won’t be too expensive. We’ll see.

And that’s all that’s going on! Things are copacetic for the most part. I hope everyone is doing well!
